Some Video Game Character Costumes

I saw a commercial for the new Pikmin 2 Video Game where there is some guy running around in a Pikmin costume and it got me wondering what kinds of costumes were available for Video Game Characters. I haven't found Pikmin, but I did find some Pac-Man costume ideas and a forum at cosplay.com that discusses costumes and ideas for costumes from Final Fantasy, kingdom Hearts, Zelda, Mortal kombat and lots more. And here (in picture #220 ... I wish I could find an easier way to show it to you) are Mario and Luigi Costumes as worn by two members of Real World San Diego.

And here are a few video game character costumes that you can buy.

How can a kid dress up as a character it hasn't even seen yet?

There's something in the "Costume World" this year that I don't recall ever seeing before. Costumes are available for characters from movies that, as of today, haven't come out yet. The movies aren't based upon any books or TV shows, so except for commercials and advance PR, kids won't know much about these characters until movie premiere day. Are the characters good? Bad? Annoying? Embarrassing to be be seen as? Or does any of this matter, and will kids clamor for them anyway? It will be interesting to see how many of these costumes show up this year.

One of the movies is Shark Tale, an animated underwater adventure by Dreamworks. It actually opens in October, so at least some kids will have a while to see it before they have to make their final costume picks.

The other one is The Incredibles, an animated film by Pixar and Disney about a family of superheroes., and it premieres November 5th, a week after trick or treat.

Giant Inflatable Jack Skellington

You’ve seen huge fan-powered inflatables in other people’s yards for years now, but you’ve never seen one cool enough for you. Well, how about if this year, you turn your yard into Halloweentown from the Nightnare Before Christmas. The Disney Store has started selling AirBlown Inflatables of Jack Skellington and Sally that are 10 and 9.5 feet tall, respectively. Jack's arms flap around in the air.

Also cool and new this Halloween are AirBlown Inflatable Archways that are nine feet tall for you to set up for people to walk through on the way to your house.
